NOTE: Sadly, my Elura died in December 2004. I'm leaving the Elura portion of
my site open as an archive. Camcorder updates will begin appearing in my
Optura 30 section, the cam I replaced the Elura with.
This is my camcorder, the original Canon Elura. Despite its relative age, I
still consider this to be an amazing little DV cam. In fact, its served me so
well, I have no desire to replace it with any of the current "small" DV cams.
Some of its features include:
Interlaced and 30P Video Modes
Optical Image Stabilizer
Manual Controls (including white balance)
12x Optical Zoom
If you have a chance to purchase one of these at a good price, I would
definitely recommend it. Unfortunately, the original Elura seems to be very
difficult to find. I'm not sure if that's because Canon never produced very
many or if owners just don't want to give them up. I'm seeing these show up on
Ebay occasionally and prices are getting very reasonable. I've seen Eluras go
for less than $200 which is a steal. Another great camcorder with even
slightly better quality and similar features to the Elura is the Optura Pi.
Tends to be a bit more pricey and also rare in the used market.
